The 83480A Digital Communications Analyzer is used to view waveforms in high-speed digital communications. Industry-standard tests including mask and template tests as well as eye-diagram analysis including extinction ratio are made using easy-to-use, built-in measurements. For measuring optical signals, lightwave receivers are integrated into the instrument to provide highest accuracy and waveform fidelity. With up to 50GHz of bandwidth, the instrument can be used on low-rate tributary signals through 10 Gb/s optical waveforms. In addition to communications analysys, the unit can be used as a general-purpose, high-speed, sampling oscilloscope.

OPTICAL CHANNEL PLUG-INS: *** Calibrated reference receivers *** Masks for SDH/SONET, Fibre Channel, or Gbit Ethernet transmitter test. The HP 83485A module has one optical and one electrical channel. Each channel has two selectable bandwidth settings. In the lower bandwidth mode: of 12.4 GHz, oscilloscope noise performance is excellent, while the 20 GHz mode provides greater fidelity for high-speed signals.
The optical channel: is calibrated at 1310 nm and 1550nm. It also has a switchable filter to produce a calibrated SDH/SONET reference receiver. It has option 014 and 032.

The unit is in good to great cosmetic condition. The plug in (HP 83485A) has a dent in the middle of it (see picture). Still works fine. The mainframe may have a small scratch here or there. All buttons, knobs, and switches are good and intact. The serial # is of the mainframe is US36030157 and the serial # for the plug in module is US34430383. Will works with 120 & 240 voltage. We always re-check the item before we ship it. This makes sure the item is working when it left my shop.
